Watch the Highlights from the Burns Night Carnival!
We will present our sixth Festival in 2017 which runs from the 20th – 29th January, and will include our stunning new venue, The Easterbrook Hall. Our award winning production of Le Haggis runs throughout the Festival, as well as a bumper programme of amazing acts from around the globe
Our festival started with a bang in 2012 – which was the Year of Creative Scotland. We sent races pulsing with our non-stop, head-banging modern interpretation of what a celebration of Robert Burns could look like.
Inspired by the celebration, rather than the idea that to be at a Burns Supper – you had to have a degree in Scots Literature – our festival is about coming together to celebrate with your friends, pals and visitors around Burn’s Night.
There is a big community drive behind our work – and each year hundreds of people take part in one of Scotland’s biggest community celebrations that spans across 9 days, 100 different shows in over 50 different venues.
So far – our audience has swelled to more than 70,000 and more than 8000 people have participated in our community projects which run from August until the festival kicks off in January.
As one of Scotland’s fastest growing cultural events – we embrace the fresh, the different, and diverse, and we present a fistful of top notch shows to our hungry audiences who help make it the World’s biggest Burn’s Night Celebration.
The work we do is only outdone by the charming location that is the historical town of Dumfries – which creates the perfect backdrop to the blockbuster that is Big Burns Supper, with its pubs, taverns and heart-warming character which will open its arms and hold your hand through every verse of Auld Lang Syne.
It is the only place in the World where you can enjoy all that a Winter Festival has to offer, soak up all the places that Robert Burn’s used to love – in the way that he left him, pay tribute at his burial site and still find time to see cutting edge and contemporary work one of Scotland’s cosiest, yet confident towns.
