We want to ensure that everyone can have access to the festival, and can enjoy our programme. We’ve put together this guide on the accessibility of our venues.

Our festival runs in Dumfries every year, and with our partners we stage over 200 events for the community to help them celebrate Burns Night, including the Spiegeltent venue which is situated in the Whitesands area.
Whether you take part in one of our community workshops or whether you buy a ticket for one of our shows – we guarantee a sensational experience.
Most of our events are fully accessible for wheelchair users and can cater for anyone with other specific access requirements.
Please get in touch if you require any further information about specific access or need advice on planning your visit.
It is our intention to work with partners to get their venues to develop accessibility guides but as these are third party operators – it may be out of our control.

Access Plan
Our Board and Management review our Access Policy every year as part of our ongoing policy development. We strive to make our work more accessible than ever, and we make an effort to take time to monitor and measure the effectiveness of how accessible our work is.
Visible Programme
We will continue to programme work by disabled artists with the intention of making this work more visible. This work forms a major part of our artistic programme and makes a strong statement about the equality of opportunity.
Active participants
We will work with partner agencies to increase the level of volunteering from disabled members of the community. We will seek guidance from our sector colleagues in how we deliver this.
Working Group
We will convene a working group of consumers and venue managers who are affected by access and who can help us make practical improvements to the way our operation is delivered. We will convene this group in September and will integrate this into our volunteering.
Billing Information
Our programmes include information regarding loops and we have increased the billing points for our venue partners to include in all shows. We will explore the use of surtitles or sign interpretation for shows and companies who wish to make their work accessible.
Box Office
We will improve the ramp conditions on our box office site by moving this to a better location for 2022.
Venue Managers
Venue Managers from other venues will receive Access training to support the development of their venues.
