This is an active corner of Scotland, and the town is close to forests, beaches and a rich heritage stretching back centuries, as well as cycle, walking and running trails. The area is close to the 7 Staines routes, as well as the Galloway Forest which is Scotland’s biggest forest.

BY RAIL:
Dumfries is connected to the West Coast UK Mainline and the West Scotland line with daily connections to Carlisle, Glasgow and Kilmarnock. A train to Carlisle takes 30 minutes, and Carlisle is connected to London in 3 hours and 20 minutes.

Northern routes run a direct service to Newcastle.

Trains from the North are also connected to Lockerbie, which connects the Virgin and Transpennine networks. Buses run from Lockerbie or a taxi costs less than £20.
