We are a unique social co-operative and membership is free and open to any who is based in Dumfries & Galloway. You can join as an individual or an organisation.

More than 700 members are part of our unique organisation and they all join for different reason. Some join to become more active in their communities, and they progress onto becoming volunteers for some of our events and others become ambassadors, making sure we are running our organisation as appropriately as we can, whilst others join to get discounts on our films and events.

We define ourselves as a social co-operative as we are working collectively to improve the wealth of our town Dumfries.  We do this by creating social and cultural programmes, training and developing young people and providing opportunities to reverse social isolation. Legally, we are a company limited by guarantee and registered charity.

Some members progress to become patrons of our organisation, and our patrons make a monthly donation which helps underwrite our running costs. This is not mandatory, but we will send you information about this when you join.

Membership is approved within seven days by our Head of Operations in principle, and then your membership is approved by our trustees at the next board meeting. You can read about our current trustees here.

All members can stand for election, and our trustees stand for three year terms. Your proposal to become a trustee is voted for by members at our AGM.
