We are looking for an AV specialist to come and help us make Northern Lights Dumfries 2026. Your role will be to work alongside our lighting designers and community to help us realise three magical installations which will form part of the five-day lighting experience.
Your role will be to:
Assess each of the sites to identify the right type of projection.
Work with the executive producer to budget for the process.
Work collectively with the team to identify the logistics needed, including our power specialists, to make sure there is sufficient levels of infrastructure for the successful projections.
Coordinate a build schedule to oversee the successful installation and de-rig.
Oversee any hires, including the loading and loadout.
Work with the festival team to identify the key risks in the project, including the development of a risk assessment on each space, so that we can maintain a safe public event which is limited in terms of potential risks.
We’re looking for someone who wants to be part of a really cool producing festival team. We will house you at our base in Dumfries alongside our incredible ensemble. You’ll be working alongside young people who are training in live events as well as our community of volunteers who take responsibility for the project as well as a team of highly regarded freelancers.
The contract is for a period of 10 days, which includesa day for R&D on location in October. In October. As we are a small independent charity, we’re looking for someone who understands our passion for arts and culture, but who is sympathetic to our project budgets. Whilst we appreciate that low cost isn’t always the best answer, we are looking for someone who will help us maximise the efficiency of our resources.
During the light up period between the 15th and the 19th, you will take line responsibility to ensure that all projections are operating correctly in a roving position.

Rate of pay is £250 per day, plus travel expenses and accommodation provided.
