We are looking for Lantern Artists for our 2025 Carnival project.

Our lantern procession runs at 5pm in Dumfries High Street, and regularly attracts thousands of attendees over the weekend.

Dumfries Carnival is on the lookout for inspirational lantern making artists to oversee our community workshops in the lead up to the event.

We welcome applications from individual artists who want to run one off workshops, or from artists who would be interested in delivering a series of workshops.

We will be running workshops between 30th December and 17th January in a variety of community spaces, some of which are open to the public or private due to safeguarding issues.

We supply all the materials for our community to take part, as well as trying to create great atmosphere in our lantern making spaces.

  • Our volunteers are the heartbeat of our organisation, and you should be comfortable working with them.

  • Our spaces get quite busy, you should be calm in a hectic community arts space.

  • You should be either registered with Disclosure Scotland or be able to be disclosed through the Barring Service.

Deadline is 24th November
