It is with deep regret that the Wet Wet Wet concert scheduled for this week has been cancelled. This is due to a dispute over the venue between us, the show producer, Big Burns Supper, and Drill Hall Initiative, the operator of the venue, Loreburn Hall.
The Drill Hall Initiative withdrew the venue making the event unfeasible.
Since the original event in January was cancelled due to inclement weather, we have been working tirelessly to restage the concert. Unfortunately, this has not been possible. When it became apparent that we could not use Loreburn Hall, we, along with the band’s management and Dumfries & Galloway Council, have been trying to find alternative venues but sadly this has not been possible.
As the entire show costs have been paid in advance, the charity now finds itself in a difficult financial position. We only have limited funds to make immediate refunds to the 550 ticket holders. We will be running several fundraisers over the next couple of months to raise money to pay refunds in full.
In the meantime, we ask for your patience and understanding. We are also investigating legal avenues to recoup our losses so we can refund everyone in full.
