In 2022 /23 – as part of our participation pilot we tested the idea of Dumfries School of Samba which proved to be in high demand across our community.

We are looking for a skilled and engaging Samba Teacher to take this group through its formation to Carnival in Dumfries in January and into the Spring season where we hope to play local festivals and galas to help us grow the profile of the group.

The project will be delivered in Dumfries town centre as part of our ambition to repurpose Dumfries High Street as a place where creativity meets community in partnership with The Midsteeple Quarter.

The project is part of the Big Burns Supper portfolio of participatory projects which includes Dumfries Community Choir, Dumfries Youth Theatre, Dumfries Carnival and the Producers of the Future platform.

This is part of our cultural manifesto as part of our creative place making model which seeks to cultivate social connection in a rurally isolated community, particularly in the height of winter.

You will be joining our unique social co-operative which has over 800 local members, including participants, volunteers, artists and producers.

We would ideally love this to take place every Wednesday, but we are openminded and flexible to get the right candidate.
