Big Burns Supper is the UK’s largest winter Fringe Festival and the next edition runs from 15th – 30th Jan 2022 across venues in Dumfries. Our iconic Burns Night programme is a global favourite with audiences as well as a programme of over 200 different shows and events every January.

At the heart of our festival celebration is the Free Festival Hub which includes four different performance spaces. Uniquely, our audience access our Festival Hub for free and we present the widest range of different performance styles round the clock. We like to surprise them, and we have a reputation for things that are little out of the ordinary.

We are inviting ideas from a wide range of artists and presenters from a broad range of genres ranging from storytelling to pop-up opera, comedy, cabaret, children’s events, demonstrations and spoken word to acoustic music. We like the idea of soap-box talks about ideas that you feel the world needs to hear about.

We are particularly interested in hearing from artists who feel under represented or feel presenting their work has barriers which we could help you remove. Please tell us on the application form whether you need some help.

Artists are invited from across Scotland and North England, the festival offers a variety of deal types which are offered as two day engagements performing either 1 x 45 minute set per day, or 2 x 20 minute sets per day.

Artists who are travelling into Dumfries & Galloway will be offered travel, accommodation as well as free tickets to other festival shows to help maximise the opportunity while you are here. All artists are invited to our Artist Network lunches which offer a great opportunity for you to meet other artists when you are here.

We are looking for either solo or duo acts only due to the scale of our programme.

Deal types

We offer a variety of different fee types for these free events, and all artists are offered the chance to busk in other festival spaces while they are here. Our deal is part of a contra arrangement we make with the artist and includes a range of goods and services which makes presenting a wide range of artists sustainable.

Deal 1

£75 per day, + accommodation, travel + 2 tickets for other shows, 4 drink passes + 10% discounts across the festival and invitation to the Artist Network lunch

Deal 2

£120 per day + 4 tickets to other shows, + 4 drink passes + 10% discounts across the festival and invitation to the Artist Network lunch

Deal 3

£140 per day + 6 tickets to other shows, + 6 drink passes + 10% discounts across the festival and invitation to the Artist Network lunch

Festival spaces

We present across a wide range of spaces, so we ask you to consider presenting work that is light weight and can be presented with minimum set-up time.
